Living, Ingestible Biosensor
August 7, 2018 | Terry Sharrer
Engineers at MIT have built a 1.5”ingestible capsule with electronics and engineered E. coli to detect bleeding and other problems in the gastro-intestinal tract. As the capsule makes its way through the gut, detectors respond to red blood cell hemes and sends a signal to a cell phone monitor. See the video about how the sensor is made and works.
