Once Again, Relative-Matching Nabs a Murderer

Genealogy has long been the sport of elders discovering their family history in church registries, census and military records, and court proceedings. But, now, from the work of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and commercial providers like Ancestry.com and 23&Me, nearly every person in the US has a DNA-defined relative in a data base. With that access, police can cross check DNA evidence from a crime scene to a family, as a way of narrowing the possible suspects. With that access, public health workers might be able to track atherosclerosis, salt sensitive hypertension, and every other health condition as well. MORE
