Hopkins Pathologists Set New Record for Medical Delivery Drone
November 14, 2017 | Terry Sharrer
Will flying drones become the best delivery system for pathology specimens in the 21st century? That of course depends on the distance between the launch point and the arrival destination, as well as conditions on the ground and in the air. But to see what’s possible a Johns Hopkins pathologist has demonstrated that specimens flown over the Arizona desert for a distance of 161 miles, arrived safely and with temperature control in three hours. This could simulate conditions on an Indian reservation or traffic congestion in just about any US city. A second piece here has a video of a drone delivery system for medical specimens that has been used in Switzerland. MORE
