Ataxia, in its most severe form and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis share the same symptoms of life-threatening, deteriorating muscle function. In mouse models of those diseases, researchers at the University of Utah have seen improvement after treatment with synthesized, antisense oligonucleotides.
