Blood Test for Drug Response to Prostate Cancer

Blood tests that replace tissue biopsies are a growing field in cancer research. This piece describes work at the Institute of Cancer Research in London which has found that a mutation in the androgen receptor gene predicts resistance to the anti-prostate cancer drug, abiraterone. Moreover, this is a better indicator of the disease because invasively-taken tissue biopsy only shows a narrow glimpse of the malignancy. MORE
