Does excessive cellphone use contribute to depression, or do depressed people simply use their phones more, constantly checking on emails, texts, and calls? Either way, behavioral health researchers at Northwestern University found that an app which tracks phone use data and location, correctly indicated whether or not a user was depressed in 86% of cases. This observation might support the notion that the more people are connected electronically the more isolated they feel—though this point was not mentioned in the report. MORE
