Graphene Catheters for Chemotherapy

It is hard to imagine that until now no one thought to question the possible reaction in IV pumps and catheters between the silver antibacterial coatings and drugs used in chemotherapy. But researchers at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Trondheim) have now asked that question and found that, indeed, the silver “lining” isn’t so great in this instance—it breaks down the anticancer drug 5 Fluorouracil. These scientists then found that graphene used in the same manner does not have that destructive reaction. MORE
