Nanowafers for Eye Injuries and Infections

If you can envision a drug eluting contact lens you have the basic idea of a nanowafer researchers at the Baylor College of Medicine have designed as a wearable, once-a-day device, made of a polyvinyl alcohol polymer, which slowly distributes antibiotics or other medication to the eye. Typically, eye drops perform this task, but tears quickly dilute the medicine, and some drugs can be severely toxic if an over dose is applied. MORE
