While “reality” may be a few years away, InSilixa (Cupertino, CA) claims to have developed a DNA testing device that can automatically scan for about a thousand target sequences (one at a time) in an hour or less, and cost about $20/test. A $250 hand-held reader reports the sequence matching. If this lives up to its billing, it could be a game-change for primary medical practices of all sorts. MORE
