Acoustical GI Biosensor
Gastrointestinal tract sounds may be a new vital sign. Rumbling in the intestines may indicate post-operative ileus, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and conditions related to obesity, but until engineers at UCLA came up with an inexpensive, wearable sound sensor this sign was left to the physician’s stethoscope.
