Moving Whole Tissue through a Microfluidics Device

In processing a tumor biopsy, the pathologist puts the tissue sample through several steps of staining, washing and observing the cells’ morphology. To enhance this task, researchers at the University of Washington have developed a low cost microfluidics device which the pathologist can fill directly from a needle (though it’s unclear in this video whether the syringe pressure or a micropump moves the sample) and the necessary steps take less than three minutes.
