Corneal Sealing after Cataract Surgery

ReSure Sealant
When eye surgeons remove a cataract through a small incision in the cornea, they apply an artificial lens, with a suture to hold it in place. Recently, however, the FDA has approved using a surgical hydrogel glue (containing polyethylene glycol) instead of the suture. “ReSure” sets in 20 seconds, and then degrades over a week and is cleared in tears. Though ReSure has been used for other surgical procedures, this is the first time it has been allowed in the eye. MORE
