The $1,000 Advanced Prosthetic Hand

Workable prosthetic hands now exist, but cost up to $100,000. In a classic example of “building a better mousetrap,” a British engineer has designed a prosthetic using inexpensive plastic, 3-D printing, and electrodes that connect the mechanism to muscles in the arm. Moreover, he is raising the necessary investment money from crowdfunding. The outcome aims to be an advanced prosthetic hand for $1,000.
