Artificial Larynx Successfully Implanted

Designed to be implanted in two stages, engineers and surgeons in Stasbourg, France have successfully given a 65 year old man, suffering from laryngeal cancer, an artificial larynx. After removing the man’s diseased larynx, surgeons put in a titanium ring and allowed tissue to grow around it. Then, months later, they inserted a valve device into the ring for a functioning artificial larynx. MORE
