Microbiology Lab in the Palm of Your Hand

Using a technique that originated with combinatorial chemistry, researchers at the University of Texas-San Antonio and the US Army Institute for Surgical Research at Ft. Sam Houston developed a palm sized microarray for drug screening. The array has 1,200 micro wells into which nanoliters of fungi or bacteria can be “dotted” on alginate.
