The gold standard for diagnosing multiple sclerosis is the CT scan in which demylenated brain neurons show up as flecks of light. But not always, and perhaps particularly not in an early stage of the disease. A blood test, which Lophius Biosciences (Regensburg, Germany) has developed, may meet the need for an early diagnosis.
