This piece, from Rice University, shows a concept-stage prototype for an electrical generator built into a shoe which provides enough power to charge a cell phone, or perhaps several kinds of wearable or implantable medical devices. When one considers the array of smart phone apps for medical monitoring, just keeping the phone charged may be the best payoff for pedipowering. MORE WITH VIDEO
