Voice App Analysis of Concussion

In order to diagnose concussions at the point-of-trauma, computer scientists at the University of Notre Dame have developed a voice analysis application for a table (an iPad in this case). In studying 125 boxers, the investigators determined that even mild brain injury produced distorted vowels, hyper nasality and imprecise consonants in speech, which the app could recognize. Obviously, this would be a valuable tool for evaluating at-risk people from youth football players to soldiers in combat. See the video. MORE WITH VIDEO
