Perspective on Big Data Genomics
June 25, 2013 | Terry Sharrer
With improvements in DNA sequencing technology—making that task cheaper and faster—the next obstacle to overcome in clinical genomics is in developing the software analytics for massive data sets. But strategies are evolving for this task, based on lookup tables, suffix trees, overlap graphs, core and supporting algorithms, and domain-specific language. This piece reviews the challenges and opportunities in “big data.” MORE
