Equivital (Cambridge, UK) is the maker of a tandem vital signs sensor consisting of an ingestible “pill” that records internal temperature and a wearable sensor that takes the pill’s electronic data, while recording skin temperature, heart rate and respiration for wireless transmission. Researchers in Australia have used this system to monitor firefighters at work in burning buildings. This may be the first internal-external system employed for distance monitoring. MORE
