The number of implantable medical devices is expanding in both theory and actuality. But a common limitation is the battery that provides electrical power for a certain time, after which it needs to be replaced. A Stanford lab, however, has built a tiny coil and antenna device—about the size of a pin head—that can be implanted to power another device and charged wirelessly by radio waves from outside the body.
