New Blood Types

How many blood types exist? There’s the ABO group, and Rhesus +/-; then, Duffy, Kidd, Diego and Lutheran, and two more discovered by University of Vermont researchers last year, Langereis and Junior. In all, there are 32 known blood types, and its likely more will be discovered as proteomics identifies other rare antigens, and as genomics sorts out the reasons cells develop drug resistance. MORE
