Is “evidence-based practice” a fair tradeoff for “clinical judgment?” Does healthcare need to be industrialized and standardized-enabled to run like a modern factory-to cut costs? Should patients be conceived as “consumers” and doctors “providers?” This piece doesn’t really answer those questions, even if strongly suggests “no” to all three. Healthcare has to present a balanced presence of the astute physician and nurse along with automated systems that enable more effective, more efficient and more equitable care. MORE
