Storing Specimens at Room Temperature
September 5, 2011 | Terry Sharrer
Recently, Biomatrica (San Diego) signed a cooperative research agreement with the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Disease (Frederick, MD) to further develop Biomatrica’s “SampleMatrix” platform for preserving laboratory specimens at room temperature. In this approach, a blood sample, for example, is air dried and enveloped in a thermo stable “shrink wrap” that protects it from heat and UV light degradation. Rehydration dissolves the cover. No doubt further testing will show whether or not messenger RNA remains stable. MORE
