RFID for Specimen Tracking
April 26, 2011 | Terry Sharrer
Over the past four years, the Mayo Clinic’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has worked out a series of best practices for tracking laboratory specimens using a passive RFID approach. Earlier this month, Mayo licensed its package exclusively to ODIN (Orlando, FL) which had provided the RFID readers and tags during the process R&D. ODIN now sells “EasySpecimen” and asserts that it works with most laboratory information systems, and, by reducing errors and hand entry costs, has a 12 month ROI. MORE
