Biodegradable Stents

Chemical & Engineering News recently reported that chemists at UNC-Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University have developed easy-to-make materials that can be fashioned into drug-eluting devices, stents and sutures which biodegrade over known time periods in tumor or inflammatory tissue. Its use for time-released chemotherapy is one possibility. This material already has been licensed for commercial development. MORE
