An iPad-Enabled Hospital

Many healthcare providers are interested in how they might use iPads instead of laptops, but most are doing what most always do-waiting to see if someone finds real value first. The Kaweah Delta Health District (a provider with a hospital, dialysis center, nursing home, rehab facility and mental health unit in Visalla, CA) has taken the plunge, deploying three iPad’s for study and ordering a hundred for anticipated distribution, targeting home health and hospice staff, dietitians, pharmacists and nurses. Besides being able to put emails, x-ray images, EKG results, et al into the staffs’ hands, iPads have 10 hour batteries and cost about one-sixth as much as the laptops Kaweah currently uses. MORE
