World’s First Bionic Finger
January 5, 2010 | Terry Sharrer
TouchBionics (Livingston, UK and Hilliard, OH) has developed the world’s first bionic finger, called “ProDigits.” The company also makes the “i-LIMB” bionic hand, but ProDigits is for patients who have lost fingers, either through trauma or birth defects. TouchBionics estimates that there are about 40,000 people in the US, and 1.2 million worldwide who could use motor-powered hand and finger prosthetics. MORE
