Statistical study of hospital elopements

This past summer, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality released a report about patients leaving hospitals against medical advice. In 2007, 368,000 patients eloped. The greater share were uninsured or Medicaid patients, in the Northeast (PA to ME) and suffered from mental disorders or substance abuse. For those thinking about real time location systems for patient monitoring, these statistics should give useful insights on the larger scale. MORE
