In 2007, Americans spent, out of pocket, about $34 billion on alternative medicine-such as homeopathic products, yoga, acupuncture and herbal supplements. Nearly half of the products sold were remedies for chronic pain. While this represents no more than 1.5% of all healthcare spending, it is a growing market, particularly for the underserved and uninsured. MORE
