In a recent survey of Massachusetts physicians, more than half reported that they kept patients hospitalized for lack of discharge to competent home care.  One of the biggest causes of delayed discharge was the shortage of physical therapists in home care.  “Accountable Care Organizations”-wherein hospitals, physicians and home care workers better coordinate their efforts  offers a possible solution, but oddly there is no mention of telemedicine applications to improve this situation.    MORE
