Insight on Alzheimer’s
July 14, 2009 | Terry Sharrer
Researchers at the University of Bristol (UK) have found that endothelin converting enzyme-2 plays a role, along with Aβ peptide accumulation, in causing Alzheimer’s disease. These findings raise the possibility that endothelin receptor antagonists, already licensed for other diseases, might be useful in treating Alzheimer’s. This is another example of molecular medicine suggesting how “patient discovery” can precede and condition new drug discovery. MORE
