Segrest Adds ApoB Test for Heart Disease Risk

About a decade ago, University of Alabama-Birmingham scientist Jere Segrest developed the “VAP” (vertical auto profile) test that subclassifies lipoproteins, giving a more accurate evaluation of HDL and LDL cholesterol. The company that Segrest founded, Atherotech, recently added another target, “ApoB,” to its profiling. A single VAP test now gives more than 20 separate values for cholesterol. MORE
