If you were shocked by Duke geneticist Allan Roses estimate about the ineffectiveness of prescription medicines, you’ll be similarly disturbed to know that between 20% and 50% of the 95 million per year advanced medical images (CT, MRI, PT) do not help in making a diagnosis or treatment. Sometimes the patients move; other times the machines are old-either way blurred pictures are useless. Only mammography has legal standards for use; other applications are unregulated, and many imaging centers are not accredited.
