Ups and Downs of RNA Silencing
March 10, 2009 | Terry Sharrer
Ark Therapeutic Group (Kuopio, Finland) has filed for a patent to cover a “small hairpin RNA” technology, aimed at up-regulating or down regulating gene expression. The company claims that their breakthrough represents an improvement over silencing RNA and zinc finger proteins approaches. The report does not say which retroviral vector Ark uses, but since it mentions an approach for treating defective human genes, it must be one of the lentiviruses. MORE
