US Spending on Healthcare

In the three-quarters of a trillion dollar economic stimulus President-elect Obama is proposing, about $100 billion is slated for healthcare-roughly $80 billion to Medicare and $20 billion for streamlining health care delivery (that would increase to $50 billion after the economic crisis subsides). Among several targets for the streaming are direct payments to physicians to adopt EMR’s and e-prescribing medications for the elderly. MORE
