CRISPR-Based Test for Cardiomyopathy

Most attention to CRISPR-Cas 9 has focused on editing out disease related genes, but this report tells of University of Pennsylvania scientists using gene editing to induce a mutation into stem cells which then can show how abnormal thickening of the heart walls (severe hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) takes place and is inherited. This could be a means for screening for high risk disease based on previous experiences in a family. MORE
