Pulsing Device to Treat Glioblastomas
December 22, 2015 | Terry Sharrer
Pulsed electric field technology, directed to disrupt cytoskeleton features of tumor cells, particularly glioblastomas, may be a way to treat brain cancer, ultimately without chemotherapy and radiation. This piece describes the Optune System from Novocure, Inc. (Portsmouth, NH) which uses electrical pulsing in conjunction with chemotherapy and radiation, but this is a step closer to using this pulsing alone to disrupt microtubes preceding depolarization of mitochondria.
