Richard Stein Develops Mathematical Model for Micropumps in Medical Diagnostics
July 21, 2009 | Terry Sharrer
Determining the residual viral load after antiviral therapies is a difficult problem. However, Richard Stein, at the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering in Germany, has created a mathematical model that simulates electrical, thermal and hydrodynamic forces that generate flow vortices, acting like centrifuges, in micropumps which holds promise for isolating very small numbers of viral particles.
