Tracking US Health
January 20, 2009 | Terry Sharrer
The National Academies’ Institute of Medicine has recommended 20 health indicators to aid in measuring the nation’s public health and healthcare performances. These will be followed on a new website “The State of the USA,” and are divided among Health Outcomes (e.g. life expectancies at birth and at age 65), Health-Related Behaviors (e.g. diet and exercise), and Health Systems (e.g. preventable hospitalizations, and health care expenditures). It will be on the basis of these factors that newly proposed healthcare initiatives will be judged. MORE
