Drug development is a field Tagline doesn’t follow, simply because it is a huge topic on its own. But the production of Ebola antibodies in transgenic tobacco has to be an exception. The San Diego company Mapp Biopharmaceuticals grabbed the headlines for therapeutic proteins being produced in crop plants like tobacco, potato, banana, et al. The question in every case is whether or not the host plant can fold the transgene protein in a shape that is beneficial to human health. MORE
