New Bionic Eye
September 18, 2012 | Terry Sharrer
Nano Retina, Inc. (Herzeliya Petnach, Israel) has devised a bionic eye that could allow some blind people to see gray-scale images so they can recognize faces and watch television. The device includes a tiny image processor implant for the retina and glasses with an infrared laser that powers a photovoltaic cell on the implant. Whether or not this will work, and be safe, is the goal of the clinical trials that the company hopes to begin next year. Watch the video of this concept. MORE
