“Veritable Protein Almanac of the World”

DeepMind’s AlphaFold AI predicts protein structures with game-changing accuracy
DeepMind, Google’s artificial intelligence company which is located in London, announced its protein structure database is available for scientific searches. “This amounts to 98.5 percent of human proteins and numbers around 20,000 in all. Furthermore, it has provided open access to the proteomes of 20 other organisms of interest, including the fruit fly, mouse, yeast and E.Coli, which amounts to a total of more than 350,000 protein structures. The team plans to build on this in the coming months by expanding this collection to include the more than 100 million proteins known to science, culminating in what DeepMind calls a “veritable protein almanac of the world.” MORE
