Vaccine developed using fast growing tobacco plants

We’ve heard about this sort of thing before, and it always sounds great, though the key question remains unanswered.  It is possible to produce all kinds of transgenic proteins—including some human—in tobacco, but does the plant fold those proteins in a shape that is safe and effective.  If successful, the maker says it will do so on a non-profit basis; the maker’s parent company also produces Lucky Strike, Pall Mall, Newport and Camel cigarettes.  MORE
