Monash Researchers developed laser blood testing pre-transfusion

Blood typing has become so much more complex (346 different types) that pretesting for the old ABO-AB classification doesn’t serve transfusion medicine any longer.  In this piece, researchers at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) report how they use a laser to heat a blood sample and within minutes can accurately characterize blood antibodies.   MORE
