Hair Protein Identification

There is no DNA in hair, apart from the hair follicle. So, the widely held conception that a single strand of hair as evidence in crime detection was wrong, until now. Researchers at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Michigan State University have shown that the amino acid sequence of hair protein can identify both an individual and the hair’s body site, as would be especially useful in rape investigations.
