China’s Internet Hospital Model
Healthcare everywhere is a landscape of silos. There are many reasons for this, and not all of them give advantages to patients. In the world’s largest healthcare system, China’s, national change can simply be on government command. But that doesn’t mean western countries, and particularly the United States, are unable to useful ideas in China’s model. This piece describes a company, “Ping A Good Doctor,” that has linked 50 Chinese hospitals into an internet system. “This new “internet hospital” model can help hospitals resolve such problems as absence in outpatient appointments, overcome geographical constraints, and expand the scope of hospital service. In addition, internet hospitals will also serve as a data integration and sharing platform to facilitate information exchange and real-time sharing among entities, forming a full-fledged, closed-loop system combining online and offline medical services.” MORE
