Vista’s Eight Signs Monitoring System
March 12, 2019 | Terry Sharrer
Vital signs monitors keep improving, though there may not be a clear winner for the best possible. This piece describes a seven-signs (respiration, heart rate, ECG, skin temperature, activity (pedometer), body posture and fall detection) stick-on patch that a patient wears continuously for five days. Data uploads via Bluetooth to a tablet and then to a cloud receiver. This appears mainly useful for tracking coronary patients in the hospital and at home after discharge, and its most outstanding features are that the monitoring continues during deep sleep, and that the patient doesn’t need to do anything once the wearable is in place.
