Most of what we know about cardiovascular disease “risk factors” comes from the longitudinal study of residents in Framingham, MA, which started in 1948 and continues today. But genomics has added a new risk assessment, according to research similar to Framingham but based on genomic profiles in Great Britain. This piece doesn’t have much detail on what the $50 “Genomic Risk Score” test derives from, but it could be highly useful in predicting heart disease many decades before it presents. MORE
