How New Blood Vessels Form

Last week, MAIN had a piece about an Indiana University process for growing stem cells into endothelial cells that are the progenitors for blood vessel development. The present story, from Goethe University in Frankfurt, adds more understanding to how blood vessels form, making a point that it is a subset of endothelial cells, under oxygen deprivation that causes arteries and veins to form after a heart attack. These findings also should be helpful in learning how to promote organoids growth into lab grown organs. MORE
